PLS’s ongoing support of UNO includes participation in its annual events, including
the Carrera de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) 5K run, as well as a $5,000 donation—an
amount which was matched by the Western Union Foundation for a total of $10,000.
The mission of Chicago’s United Neighborhood Organization (UNO) is to challenge
Hispanics to define and attain standards of excellence for themselves towards an
overall enfranchisement of this community, both in a broad sense of American social
growth and at the local level in terms of stable neighborhoods and healthy families.
